Το όρος Σκάρος βρίσκεται στην ανατολική πλευρά της Λευκάδας και έχει μέγιστο υψόμετρο 673 m. Αποτελείται σχεδόν αποκλειστικά από ασβεστολιθικά πετρώματα , εκτός από τα εδάφη των ΒΑ πλαγιών του όρους, συμπεριλαμβανομένης και της κορυφής, που έχουν δημιουργηθεί από τριτογενείς αποθέσεις. Γενικότερα η περιοχή χαρακτηρίζεται από ελαφριές κλίσεις, αποστρογγυλωμένες κορυφές και μικρή διάβρωση. Στις παρυφές των ανατολικών πλαγιών του όρους Σκάρος βρίσκεται η Μονή Κόκκινης Εκκλησίας, που χτίστηκε στα τέλη του 15ου αιώνα και αποτελεί ένα από τα παλαιότερα θρησκευτικά μνημεία του νησιού.Το ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον της περιοχής έγκειται στα υπολείμματα του δρυοδάσους που βρίσκεται στα ανώτερα τμήματα του όρους και αποτελείται από Quercus frainetto, Q. ilex, Q. macrolepis και Q. pubescens.

Mount Skaros is located on the eastern side of Lefkada and has a maximum altitude of 673 m. It consists almost exclusively of limestone rocks, except the soils of the BA slopes of the mountain, including the top, created by tertiary deposits. More generally the area is characterized by slight slopes, rounded peaks and slight erosion. On the outskirts of the eastern slopes of Mount Skaros is the Monastery of the Red Church, built at the end of the 15th century and one of the oldest religious monuments of the island. The area's special interest lies in the remains of the oak forest located in the upper parts of the mountain and consists of Quercus frainetto, Q. ilex, Q. macrolepis and Q. pubescens.
