Ready for the experience out of the beaten track in Douro Valley? We will start in Porto heading Douro Region. We will drive 1h30 until our first stop, which will be in a hidden viewpoint over the Douro River. Perfect time for taking some photos and to feel the peace of the Valley. Then we will visit a wonderful winery where you will learn all about wine production and the aging of wine. It will be a technical introduction provided by a wine enthusiast proceeded by commented wine tasting of Douro wines and also Port wine. Afterwards appreciate the Douro Valley onboard of a private boat during 1 hour surrounded by beautiful wineries and its vineyards. In this experience, you will visit the unparalleled DOURO VALLEY, the first denominated wine region in the world and a world heritage site by UNESCO. The day starts at our meeting point and then we will be heading to the Valley. For the drive we will do a loop around the valley to better see and enjoy all the different landscapes, first driving through the N323 with all the astonishing viewpoints to the valley and where we have the first stop, a small winery from a local producer to try his regular wines (reds and whites from the region), olive oil, and other products produced with olives and everything paired with local bread, jelly, cheeses and hams. At this winery we will have the chance to have a small walk at the vines and depending on the stage of the vineyard, learn about the work being done at the moment, such as, pruning, grafting and harvesting. At 12:00 we will have our second stop at Pinhão for a typical portuguese lunch at a local tavern with 2 dishes, meat and fish and as well great options for Vegans and Vegetarians. Later, we will cross the Douro river by the bridge Luis I to Vila Nova de Gaia, where we will find the famous wine cellars of Port wine. PROGRAM We will hike/walk through the vineyards in Douro valley until the amazing Pinhão village, however, on our way, we will have the chance to visit an amazing winery and learn how Port Wines are made and as well to have some wine tasting. We will provide a picnic in the vineyards with cheese, smoked ham, bread, cakes, red and white wines, and a few more surprises, (if raining, we'll go to a typical restaurant). It's recommendable you take your own water for the day. After the picnic, the hike will continue with the amazing views of Douro Valley vineyards until the village of Pinhão where will finish our hike and have the chance to visit the secular train station. The hike is 9 km with some ups and downs, however, if you like to walk it will be easy. Later, we will cross the Douro river by the bridge Luis I to Vila Nova de Gaia, where we will find the famous wine cellars of Port wine. We will have the opportunity to stop and enjoy the magnificent view of the Douro river and Porto from a special place. A mix of countryside and city, here you can feel a bit of peace. Once we arrive at home we will do a toast with Port wine and be ready to start our baking . After some talk its time to 'get your hands on work'. I will first explain you all the steps before we start cooking. We divide this workshop in 2 different stages, first you will learn how to do the puff pastry, the base for our Pastel de nata and on the second stage the custard !! All of you will participate in the baking .We clarify that we don't have individual working areas, but that we all work together as a team. With our babies in the oven for 15 minuts we will prepare our drinks, coffe, tea or a genuine white Port wine to enjoy with our Pastel de Nata . All participants make at least 2 pastries by hand - spreading the dough with a specific Pastry technique, filled with the custard and oven :) I am sure that the result will be delicious. After the pastel de nata is done we will finally tasted and realize this is the best nata you ever eat. After this amazing moment its time to come back to Porto! Everything is planed in detail to give you the best experience!!
