From the Sugarlands Visitor Center, drive 8.7 miles south along Newfound Gap Road parking on left. Take advantage of the public restrooms located in the parking lot. Trailhead has a sign indicating the distance to each major landmark along the way. 1.4 miles to Arch Rock and 2.3 miles to Alum Cave Bluffs. Many people decide to turn around at the cave, but keep trekking onward to Mt. Leconte. Should you reach the summit, breathtaking views from the third-highest peak in the smokies at 6,593 feet. Mount Le Conte is one of the highest peaks in the Appalachian Mountains rising 5,301 ft (1,616 m) from its base. Total 11.5 miles round trip- Absolutely Amazing!

This is the highest peak in the Smokys and one of the best views you'll see. It is a 10 mile hike, 5 miles there and 5 miles back with a lodge at the top. It's considered a "difficult" trail, so if you're up for the challenge, it will be worth it!
