There is also a trail opposite side of the river that is a quick walk into stockbridge (if you go up the hill) - on busy days its a lifesaver in avoiding traffic and parking issues.

Trustees of Reservations
I would highly recommend getting a Massachusetts Trustees pass for a year - it will save you a ton getting into museums, historic homes and hiking spots (parking). It is a great value even if you just go to 2-3 places.

North American Reciprocal Museum Association
Another thing to book (not just for this trip but for all of them) would be a NARM pass. This gets you into several local museums here for free and also likely ones near your home so it is useful after your trip.
