Things to do (that aren't art!)

In addition to the phenomenal art scene there's so much to do in North Adams and the surrounding area. Here are some off-the-beaten-path ideas.
Though some locals would prefer not to advertise this little trail, it’s perfect for a short, not-too-strenuous hike that’s close to downtown. Easily do the mostly-flat trail in under 2 hours roundtrip. And yes, there’s a real waterfall. Park in the YMCA/Elementary School lot.

The art scene

Works that are contemporary or classic or something in between; paint or sculpture or multimedia or 3D installation; artists who are world famous or up-and-coming or totally unknown (for now!)... our little corner of Massachusetts has it all.
World-class museum featuring European and American paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, photographs, and decorative arts from the Renaissance to the early twentieth century. Visit Cafe 7 for a quick bite, or pack a picnic to enjoy by the reflecting pool. Walking trails (free, no admission needed!) criss-cross the 140-acre property, offering outdoor art installations with the backdrop of spectacular views of Williamstown and the Green Mountains.
