Travessia is an Eco Beach Lodge that is all about understated barefoot-luxury, combining the best of bush and beach. Sophisticated whilst down to earth, with no-one around for miles, Travessia is for families, single travellers and couples alike.
Casa Baleia is a wooden/canvas construction on an elevated deck with 180° sea views, King bed and outdoor shower.

Travessia Beach Lodge is about 6km from the EN1, Mozambique's National Road that leads from Maputo all the way up to Pemba. The surrounding villages on the way to the lodge are known as Cumbana Agricola. Morrumbene is approximately 24km to the South, Massinga is approximately 28km to the North. Maxixe, the Capital of the province Inhambane and an ideal place to stock up on supplies, is about 55km to the South of us on the EN1.

My husband and I, together with our children have been living in Vredehoek in Cape Town for a number of years and love the suburb due to its friendly neighborhood feel with a few small restaurants and a well stocked shop in walking distance and generally friendly people. Our children are not going to school yet but are equally keen travelers as we are. We enjoy the outdoors, camping and exploring by foot, car or plane as much as we like the occasional cultural, culinary and creative experiences Cape Town has to offer. We often have friends and family from overseas to visit us and only started recently to offer our "garden flat" as we call it, to other people. Access is independent from our house which is one floor above. Since our house is build on a slope, the garden is slightly lower than the entrance from street level...
As your host we will leave you in peace with yourself but are happy to assist to the best of our abilities with whatever information or travel tips we have to share with you.
As a traveler, we are generally low maintenance and our kids are well behaved - our single or friends with no children can vouch for this!

Wakati wa ukaaji wako

To those, who just want to relax we recommend long walks on our endless beach, a lazy afternoon at the pool or simply taking a snooze in the hammock on your private deck with sea views.
Those who want to be a bit more active, we invite to explore the bush and our neighbourhood on foot with of our guides and perhaps receive an invite for tea or lunch.
We’ll happily organise snorkelling or diving day trips for you to Tofu or Inhambane. Or perhaps you just want to join us on one of our weekly shopping trips to Maxixe and browse the maze of the local market. You are unlikely to meet another tourist here.
We also recommend a day trip to the city of Inhambane, which is just 20 minutes by ferry across the lagoon from Maxixe. The boat ride in itself is an experience.
Transfers from and to Inhambane can be arranged on request.
