Greenhow, Yorkshire Dales National Park, England, Ufalme wa Muungano

We are based in Nidderdale, home of the Red Kite, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park only minutes from Wharfedale with Bishopdale & Wensleydale less than an hours drive away.

Keeper’s Copse is situated on land known as Nursery Knot (a prominent limestone knoll situated just above the Greenhow to Grassington (B6265) road on one side and Grimwith Reservoir in the other, it drops down below Stump Cross Caverns.

Nursery Knot is home to Red Kites, Lapwings, Curlews and Kestrels, Barn Owls, Buzzards, Pheasants, Partridge, Grouse and an array of garden & moorland birds are always in attendance.

The copse has an abundance of wildlife and is also home to our rescued hens and a resident barn owl. Rabbits roam freely and burrow within the copse. There are raised vegetable beds which are ready to be planted next spring and there is a large firepit for you to enjoy. The copse is planted as a wildflower meadow – which is in various stages of growth.

Local game shoots operate on the moors surrounding the copse from August to January.

Walks are easily picked up from the copse with a stile taking you to Simons’ Seat behind the copse and the Dalesway, Way of the Roses cycle ride, Nidderdale Way all easily accessible.

Behind the hut and just over the stile takes you up to Simon's Seat, the gritstone capped summit of Barden Fell and is one of the most popular of the lower hills in the Yorkshire Dales. Appletreewick and Burnsall can be reached over the stile also.

We are situated less than one mile from Stump Cross Caverns, an ancient natural cave formation deep underneath the Yorkshire Dales.

Popular market towns of Grassington, Pateley Bridge, (home of the oldest sweet shop in the world), Harrogate & Skipton are easily accessible and only minutes by car.

Brimham Rocks, once known as Brimham Crags, is a 183.9-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest and Geological Conservation Review site and again only a short drive away.
