We say "Edge of the World" because the camp sits literally on the edge of a consecrated Medicine Wheel. A Medicine Wheel is a symbolic encapsulation of the world (or universe), and sacred space.

Whether you're passing through or retreating into nature, our CAMP AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD is a perfect stop for a single traveler or a pair of traveling companions. And if you're a seeker coming especially for the Medicine Wheel, we're so happy to offer you this experience. Read on for more details.

Sehemu
Please read this information carefully as the Airbnb app doesn't include options like "campsite" or "camp toilet" in their check boxes. We don't want anyone to be misled. This is not a "guesthouse", as listed by Airbnb, but a campsite, as described in the information below.

First, pricing. Note that the fee is $25 per guest per night. If you travel with a companion, you should indicate there are two of you, and the fee will double to $50.

The Camp at the Edge of the World sits on the southeast edge of the Six Crows Medicine Wheel. It features two single person tent cots nestled under a grand sheltering white pine prayer tree. Inside each tent cot, guests will find a sleeping bag, two pillows, and towels.

There are benches and camp chairs around the fire pit, which doubles as your cooking source with a cooking grate available. We provide plenty of firewood to enhance your camping experience. A prior guest left a small coal fueled Hibachi and some coal if you have any interest.

A camp table is provided along with a filled 5-gallon water jug with a spigot. This is multi-use water, for bathing and cleaning, and is good drinking water.

There are trash and recycle bins, and we also ask guests to compost.

A canopy is installed over the fire pit to protect against rain. There is a nice tree canopy around the site for shade.

A private mini tent a short distance from the site houses a camp toilet which we refresh regularly with disinfectant and digester. This is also a private place to change clothes.

There is a heated outdoor shower with privacy curtain. Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are provided.

A large bin stored under the table contains the camp gear. In it guests will find pots and pans and campfire strength cooking utensils, a drip camp coffee pot, disposable dishes and cutlery, lanterns, bug spray, and cleaning supplies. This year we added hand sanitizer as well as disposable masks.

We have reduced and set up our offerings this year so to keep groups well distant from one another (see details below*), but guests moving around the property may run into other guests. We ask that you social distance.

The one amenity that may be shared among guests is the hot tub. We ask guests to wipe around the rim and controls with provided disinfectant wipes, both before getting in, and after getting out. We feel this is safe as guests are not in proximity to one another during use. Any guests not comfortable being near where other guests have congregated should refrain from the hot tub.

Sorry, no electricity is offered in this fairly rustic camping experience. If you must have electric, i.e. for a CPAP machine, let us know and we will make it work.

We have WiFi. Most guests can access it from this site. You may have to walk closer to the house to connect depending on your device.

We ask guests to clean up after yourselves, and put all the supplies you use back where they came from. Please make sure everything is secure and lids sealed against the rain and animals. Upon checkout, the sleeping bags and towels can be left on the table, as they will be collected for laundering.

Musical instruments and campfire songs are acceptable at reasonable hours, but please, no party level noise making out of respect for neighbors and other Six Crows guests. Although there are some trees separating our rural property from that of our neighbors, noise tends to carry as we are on the lake.

This camp site is designed for two guests only. We cannot accommodate any additional guests on this site. Also, no additional tents please.

* Six Crows B&B guest accommodations normally consists of:
- A suite with 4 bedrooms (each room rented separately) and shared lounge/dining area, 2 bathrooms, and galley kitchen with breakfast counter;
- A one-room cabin that sleeps 4;
- A glamp camp site that sleeps 4; and
- This site, that sleeps 2.

In order to operate safely and keep guests well separated this year, we are reduced to 3 rental spaces, each self-contained including supplies, bathrooms, and showers:
- The entire suite by one group;
- The lakeside cabin and glamp by one group; and
- This site by one group.

Ufikiaji wa mgeni
This campsite is in a side yard from which you can see neighbors' properties at a distance and significantly obscured by tree lines. The site is nestled between the Medicine Wheel and my raised vegetable garden boxes.

For convenience, guests may park one vehicle at the campsite.

Mambo mengine ya kukumbuka
MEDICINE WHEEL: The Six Crows Medicine Wheel was built in 2000 by your host, Linda Margaret, known in spirit as Red Spider Weaving. Transported to Six Crows in 2003, The Medicine Wheel has continued to evolve since that time as hundreds of visitors and gatherers have drawn from, spoken vows and celebrated in, and treasured it over the years. It is sacred space to seek answers and healing, and send up prayers and promises. You might liken it to a church.

Guests are invited and encouraged to explore the Wheel's energies. A brief introduction handout is provided.

MEDICINE WHEEL TEACHINGS: For interested guests, Red Spider Weaving offers a 75-minute teaching journey around the Medicine Wheel. Topics include the Wheel's architecture and energies, the Grandfathers and Grandmothers, Spirit Keepers, Spirit Paths, Elemental Clans, Moons, and assorted other cosmic associations. Guests will learn how to find their current life position on the Wheel, communicate with the Wheel's energies, discover their personal medicine needs, and seek healing.

The fee for 1 to 2 guests is $25 at the time of the class. Guests interested in a teaching are asked to schedule it when booking the campsite. Scheduling may not work with last minute requests for a teaching. If you have a group interested in a Medicine Wheel Retreat, we can offer a special rate on accommodations and teachings. I can also offer more advanced teachings. Ask me. :D

Twin Lake, Michigan, Marekani

Hart Lake (some call it Little Silver) is a small inland lake about 2 miles around, a good walk. There are also two-track trails in the woods all around us for those who want to explore nature.

Our village breakfast/lunch restaurant, the Overboard Inn, 2 miles from Six Crows, attracts customers from miles around for their breakfast variety and great value. Right across the road from the Overboard is Los Lagos, where Pablo will serve you some of the best and most authentic Mexican food around. A few miles the other way takes you to The Pizza Mill, which offers a lot more than pizza, and has options for every dietary need you can imagine. There are a couple bars nearby as well with their own interesting cuisine and atmosphere.

I especially want to call your attention to the real hidden gem of our neighborhood, Twin Lake County Park. It's just a couple miles from us and is a treat for beach goers. The park features a big, warm, clear inland sportsman's lake, long sandy beach, well-stocked commissary, grills and picnic tables, and loads of other amenities, even a tennis court! Check out the pictures for information about some of our other local attractions.
