Originally stables/coach house, the cottage has been converted to a one-up-one-down self-catering accommodation. With double bed, shower, washing machine and fully equipped kitchen. It's a 10 min walk from station, and even closer to the shops, cafes etc. There is normally space to park one car on the drive, but be aware that the entrance is a bit narrow. If you come in an electric car we can find a 13A plug for you to charge up.

Mambo mengine ya kukumbuka
Arrival and departure times by arrangement, we are fairly flexible depending on previous and subsequent bookings. Normal times would be depart by 11 am and arrive from 3 pm.

Our Covid-19 protocol:
During the current Covid-19 situation we have thought very hard about how to make your stay at the cottage as safe and comfortable as possible during these challenging times. We are blocking nights between each booking to leave the cottage time to help it 'quarantine'.
As well as the Airbnb Cleaning Protocol we are also changing the bedding e.g. duvets and pillows between bookings as well as the books and games. (We have 2 sets of everything).
Bedding and Towels, we would appreciate If you could strip your bedding and put it and your used towels in the linen bag which is under the bed. That would be a great help and would minimise risk to the cleaner.

We will not be leaving shampoos etc in the cottage but will have a basket on hand if you need to borrow any of them and then we shall quarantine what you have used.

We would normally have lots of maps and leaflets on the area for you to browse through but we will only have a few out (changed each time between guests) also a lot of the information on them may now not be correct given that not everywhere is open and functioning as normal.

Price is for 2 people.

If you come by train or bike we can offer a discount.

Hand and shower towels, pillowcases, sheets, duvet covers, tea towels and bathmat are provided. If there are young children in the party please bring waterproof sheets. You are requested to bring your own beach towels, though if you ask us for some we can usually provide some extra towels for the beach.

There is a supermarket less than a minutes walk away, which is open from 7 a.m. til 10 p.m. Mon to Sat and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. It's like having your own personal food-store - and it's good to shop local.

Machynlleth, Powys, Ufalme wa Muungano

Set in the heart of rural mid-Wales, Machynlleth is a lovely historic market town with a population of about 2,000.
In the town (a 2 minute walk) there are: several cafes and pubs; a wholefood shop; a couple of supermarkets and lots of antique shops. Also a leisure centre (swimming pool, squash courts, bowls rink, fitness suite and sports hall) and an outdoor playground;. Notably, apart from the supermarkets, all the shops are ‘independently’ owned.

There is a fair bit of live music in town - in the pubs and at the Tabernacle. There are also a few drop-in activities to participate in e.g. Table Tennis and Board Games (both once a week) if you want to know more about these please ask us.

We have lived in and around Machynlleth since 1982 and love the area and the people. Having worked at the Centre for Alternative Technology for 30 years we are strong advocates of renewables, recycling, organic gardening etc. We have a large organic garden and grow as much veg as we can. We enjoy meeting people from different countries and cultures, and also like to travel using Airbnb when we can. We like playing board games and have started a board games club (which meets weekly) in one of the local pubs, and have built up quite a nice collection of interesting board games. John plays the trumpet in the Machynlleth Wind band and in a variety of bands.
