After six years of roadworks the drive through Cogmans Kloof provides for a smooth and scenic entry to Montagu. Once here the museums, restaurants and coffee shops await. Explore the nearby wine, olive, fruit or lavender farms. Hiking or rock climbing activities abound. Or just sit on the terrace and enjoy the chickens below.

We live on the property so will be on hand to welcome you and answer any questions you may have about the room or the area. The room itself is quiet and tranquil. There is a ceiling fan for warm Karoo nights and a heater for the cooler winter months. In the room you will find a queen bed, small fridge, basic crockery, cutlery and glasses but no facilities for food preparation. We provide tea/coffee, milk, rusks and filtered water as well as snack basket and instant oats for breakfast. There are also takeaway options in town should you want to bring something back after a long day of sightseeing. Ice is available on request. In the event of electricity loadshedding you won't be without overhead lighting or hot water as we have solar power and a gas geyser.

We share our home with a small dog, Milo who is incredibly laid back and two chickens, Gertrude and Mildred free-range in the garden from time to time.

For guests who are touring we offer a laundry service for which we levy a small charge and we request that guests let us know on arrival if they will need to do some laundry.

The neighbourhood is very safe, It is an easy five minute walk around the corner to the Avalon Hot Springs (currently not open to day visitors due to lockdown). For the reasonably fit and adventurous there is a 2.5 km hike from the Springs to the other side of Montagu. Parking is behind a locked electric gate.

We are situated on the edge of town and look out onto vineyards and mountains yet it's just a 3 km, 5 minute drive to the centre of Montagu. The best of both worlds.

I am semi-retired after serving the logistics industry in a support role for many years. Just over a year ago, after decades of city life in Cape Town, my husband Tom (fully retired from publishing) and I relocated to Montagu, a picturesque Karoo town that we are blessed to call home.

We are both practical hands-on people who derive much pleasure from our home and garden and enjoy sharing it with our guests.

Montagu's slogan is "Local is Lekker" which loosely translated means "local is great/nice" . Both local and overseas visitors will find a very warm welcome here at Just Jasmine and in Montagu.

We love interacting with our guests and are very happy to share our knowledge of the region, and what we know of the rest of the country with overseas visitors while also learning about their home countries.

We are micro managed by two dogs, a senior Boxer, Oscar and a 6 year old mix breed Milo. We don't allow them to solicit for attention from our guests although given half a chance ...

We are both easy going and mature (read old) enough to no longer sweat the small stuff. All we ask of our guests is that they treat our home with respect and enjoy their stay with us. Tom & Daph
