The Garden Room in 18th-Century Quay Street

Catch the afternoon sun inside, and on the little private terrace adjoining this cosy space. A flower-filled shared walled garden is equally welcoming, while inside, exposed-stone wall accents meet contemporary comforts like a double-headed shower. The apartment is set on the first floor of a rambling old historical building with lots of quirky features and different use spaces. The apartment is very secluded within the building and offers you open plan stylish living, fully equipped kitchen and en-suite, with direct access into the shared walled garden. We will be in touch just before your visit to find out what sort of time you will be arriving, & will meet with you at property. You will have a key to the street door taking you into a communal main hallway and one for your very own private apartment which is situated on the first floor accessed up old steepish stairs with level access to the garden. The room is within a large historical and & occasionally lively building as there may be other people about in the daytime. There is one other apartment above, 18th Century Apartment (see listing) and at the front of the building on the first floor The Art Room apartment. The ground floor which has a separate entrance is occasionally used as a pop up venue/ gallery space. It's always a pleasure to meet / chat with you to show you the ropes etc, if you'd like to know about the beaches, walks & places to eat out, just ask. If you prefer privacy that's fine too we wont pry. Quay street leads to the estuary and quayside, and is just across the road from Cardigan Castle & grounds. We are tucked just around the corner from the high street with a good selection of coffee shops, cafes pubs and independent shops with the very popular Pizza Tipi on the Quayside. There are easy walks leading you straight into countryside and upstream into the nature reserve. Coast is 10 minutes away by car Poppit Sands & Mwnt. However we're right on the Wales coast path, you can bus along the coast, walk back or vice versa with Cardi Bach bus serving Ceredigion beaches or the Poppit Rocket for Pembrokeshire Beaches. You can also hire bikes from Tom ( new images bikes) from £15 per day and head along to the wildlife park up stream. 'Bay to Remember' rib, takes you out to sea and around the coastline in search of seals and dolphins. There's also a small boat from the quayside which goes along the estuary, with adventures in kayaking which can be booked locally too. General travel, By car Tenby takes about an hour, St Davids peninsular an hour, Fishguard 30 mins, Newquay 35 mins,there's an incoming bus stop just around the corner at the beginning of the High St, and Finches Square (5 mins walk) is where you arrive and leave Cardigan to get to rail / coach connections at Aberystwyth and Carmarthen & Fishguard. We have endeavoured to make this a great place to stay, and have worked hard to make it as comfortable as possible. However this is an old historical building which we have struggled to make sense of, as it was never designed as a dwelling. Working to Building Regulations we have sound proofed as much as we can, you will hear footsteps above and murmurs of other people but we haven't found this a problem as yet. We can't seem to hear the music from the few events next door at the cellar bar which is two floors below the front of this building, however you can sometimes hear chat & laughter from their yard which is the level of our cellar & can be heard via the extractor hoods & vents. This noise is occasional Thursdays, some Fridays and Saturdays & subsides around midnight. Quay street leads to the estuary and quayside, and is just across the road from the newly opened Cardigan Castle & grounds. Attend the weekly music and poetry events in the Cellar Bar next door, with theatres, pubs, and restaurants only steps away.
